Ten fully documented cases. Each must carry its history, diagnosis, intra-operative documentation, and post-operative follow-up records — the complete arc of care, not a highlight reel.

Evidence Base
A curated reading list of seminal and contemporary implant literature. You are expected to hold a working command of this evidence — and it is examined orally, in your own words, not by multiple choice.
Oral Board Examination
Modeled on specialty board rigor — a live examination in two parts.
Defend your own portfolio before the board — the reasoning behind every diagnosis, plan, and technique you chose.
Analyze cases prepared by the examiners: diagnosis, treatment planning, technique critique, complication management, and evidence-based rationale.
Open to every implant clinician
You do not need to have trained with the Institute to sit for the board. Misch graduates pay a reduced candidacy fee because their coursework already documents the required domains.

Do I need to be a Misch graduate?
No. The Diplomate is open to any qualified implant clinician. Candidates apply directly with their own documented cases; Misch graduates simply pay a reduced candidacy fee.
What cases do I need?
Ten fully documented cases: seven from the obligatory domains and three from optional domains. Each needs history, diagnosis, intra-operative documentation, and post-operative follow-up.
How is the exam scored?
Every response is scored on a 1–4 scale. The Diplomate requires consistent competency — a score of 3 or higher — across all domains, on both your own cases and examiner-prepared cases.
How do I apply?
Candidacy is handled personally. Request candidacy details and an advisor will walk you through eligibility, portfolio requirements, and the next examination date.
